AEW: Double Or Nothing Reaction (In Tweets)
In addition to every episode of AEW: Dynamite, I also live tweet during every All Elite Wrestling PPV. Below, I’m going to share with you my reaction to the show via Twitter in chronological order.
This has understandably been a heartbreaking week for the entire pro wrestling community, but to the credit of performers around the world, they continue to be our freedom from concern.

AEW: Double Or Nothing promises to bring us joy during an uncertain time. #AEWDON #AEW pic.twitter.com/w4lOpqawlY
Private Party vs. Best Friends starts now during the pre-show.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 23, 2020
Despite the lack of audience, it still makes a noticeable difference to have the talent scattered throughout ringside reacting to the action. #AEWDoN #AEW
Cheers to you and yours as AEW: Double Or Nothing officially gets underway. @AEWrestling #AEWDoubleorNothing #AEWDoN #AEW pic.twitter.com/mC5j8pRhfY

Casino Ladder Match (AEW World Championship shot): Darby Allin vs. Colt Cabana vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Joey Janela vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Kip Sabian vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Luchasaurus vs. mystery entrant.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Sky and Kazarian kick it off. Ooooo#AEWDoN
The People's Choice and proverbial underdog, Darby Allin has entered the match. #AEWDON
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Orange Cassidy nonchalantly taking his time and asking the commentators for the rules was simply hysterical. #AEWDON
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Darby Allin will go to tremendous lengths to take others out of the match, but at the detriment of his own body. #AEWDoN pic.twitter.com/8x7dqbWJBf
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Could the mystery entrant be Brain Cage?#AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
The mystery entrant is.......Brain Cage! Also worth noting, he's accompanied by Taz.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
He's a former Impact World Champion. #AEWDoN
Brian Cage has been buried under ladders, guard rails and props, but much like Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers, he will re-emerge more dangerous than ever before. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
If you're being exposed to Brian Cage for the very first time, I'm sure you are blown away by his remarkable agility for a man that size. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Brian Cage wins the Casino Ladder Match in his debut and earns a future AEW World Championship match. That's one hell of a first impression. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Brian Cage was an excellent signing for AEW. While he possesses some recognition within the professional wrestling scene, they also have the ability to build upon him from a blank slate as a believable and terrifying heel. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
MJF vs. Jungle Boy is up next.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
While Jungle Boy certainly requires a victory to regain momentum, it's difficult to bet against MJF with Wardlow by his side. #AEWDoN
MJF is the king of the shortcut.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Hey, if you bend the rules and you don't find yourself disqualified, keep executing those tactics. #AEWDoN
With MJF being 24 and Jungle Boy being 22, these two could easily feud off and on throughout the next several years as they possess such natural chemistry in the ring. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
MJF wins with a very Modified European Clutch Pin.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Those two men really set the tone for the remainder of the evening and produced an early candidate for Match of the Night.👏#AEWDoN
AEW TNT Championship: Cody vs. Lance Archer has the potential to steal the show.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Mike Tyson will present the winner with the championship.
Be prepared for fireworks. #AEWDoN
Mike Tyson's reaction to Lance Archer destroying that unnamed individual was arguably my favourite moment of the evening. #AEWDoN pic.twitter.com/Spl89EolF2
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
For those immediately criticizing the TNT Championship, Tony Schiavone offered some clarification: The belt will receive gold belting once more businesses open up. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson have both been ejected.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Arn's reaction: "Bullshit!!!!"
Never change, Arn. #AEWDoN
After two consecutive Cross Rhodes, Cody is crowned your first ever TNT Champion!
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
As advertised, Mike Tyson presented the belt to Cody. #AEWDoN
Penelope Ford fills in for the injured Britt Baker against Kris Statlander.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
In terms of the outcome, Kris seems like the obvious choice. #AEWDoN

— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
I certainly wasn't expecting to see Shawn Spears' fully exposed ass this evening. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
✅Cody defeats Lance Archer and wins the TNT Championship
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
✅Dustin defeats Shawn Spears.
It's been a great evening for the Rhodes family.
All Elite Wrestling paid tribute to both Shad Gaspard and Hana Kimura this evening. A very classy move on both fronts. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Poor Jim Ross.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
He almost said Cody won the TNA Championship and then joked about it.
It's an honest mistake when caught up in the moment, but fans will likely tease him regardless. #AEWDoN
Hikaru Shida presents some major upside and while I'm predicting that Nyla Rose will retain this evening, Shida's stock will continue to rise.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
There's no doubt a championship reign could very well be in her future.#AEWDoN
Nyla Rose just sent Shida through the poker table, looked into the camera and proclaimed, "always bet on black!"
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
I appreciate those little details. #AEWDoN
Hikaru Shida nails Nyla Rose into the the poker chip. pic.twitter.com/qdre2VDAMB #AEWDoN

Wow! Hikaru Shida just upset Nyla Rose to become the NEW AEW Women's Champion. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
A great move having Excaliber, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone show genuine empathy by touching on the fact it's been a rough week for the pro wrestling community, the world while highlighting they feel privileged to provide us with entertainment. Classy.#AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
While I feel as though Brodie Lee was undoubtedly rushed into the AEW World Championship picture, I have no doubt this match will deliver with Jon Moxley. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Jon Moxley is a very special talent. The aura that he exuded when I saw him in person at AEW Full Gear completely supported that sentiment.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
He's the ideal flag-bearer and World Champion for All Elite Wrestling. #AEWDoN
Jim Ross: "Mr. Brodie Lee hates sneezing" #AEWDoN pic.twitter.com/ET5Pwhumng

That's one hell of a journey over the past 12 months. #AEWDoN
Jon Moxley just put himself and Brodie Lee through the ramp with the Paradigm Shift. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Jon Moxley just forced Brodie Lee to pass out in a modified sleeper choke to retain the AEW World Championship. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Taz and Bam Bam would be proud. #AEWDoN pic.twitter.com/SmbamXXj5Q
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
I really loved the finish to that match. It keeps Brodie Lee strong as he serves as the unshakeable leader of The Dark Order while Jon Moxley was ruthless and ever-resourceful in victory. #AEWDoN
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
The All Elite Wrestling action figures will be available this August 2020.

Wicked Cool Toys really undid themselves here. #AEWDoN
The Stadium Stampede will generate many memorable moments.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
These two teams were set to battle at Blood & Guts prior to the show being cancelled/postponed.
Prediction: Matt Hardy & The Elite#AEWDoN
The importance of Chris Jericho's signing to All Elite Wrestling should not be understated.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Not only did he bring instant credibility to a start-up promotion, but he was arguably the MVP of 2019 in one of the best, if not the greatest, year of his professional career. #AEWDoN

The football-inspired entrances along with the cheerleaders, marching band and pyro really makes this match feel grand.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
I prefer this over the cinematic experience that has been exhausted as of late. #AEWDoN
This is how you make an impactful entrance. @IAmJericho #AEWDoN pic.twitter.com/vdOSeUUqis
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020

— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
Matt Jackson just hit a moonsault off the goalpost.
— Chris Toplack (@christoplack) May 24, 2020
